Maybe news of the real world is finally reaching the inside of the org and they're realizing how much sense evolution makes, how much physical evidence there is to support it, and how widespread the knowledge of it is in the general population. Thus, they need to find a way to make it work with their teachings and skew it to their religion's advantage, that way no one can question the org about it.

Universal Issue of Sovereignty Does NOT Exist....Proof......
by oompa inwe are taught that the $hit mankind has endured for thousands of years is because satan said something that could be construed to be bad about god, and so god said...."let's let mankind see if they are better off following satan and leading themselves, or following me.
" now thousands of years later, this universal issue is still not settled...after all...the angles and demons are waiting with baited breath for the end result.. do you think that just because you were taught since youth that this "universal sovereignty issue" is real, it is?
i have some real good biblical reasons this is not even an issue.............................................oompa.

IMO, if it is an issue, it is only an issue to humans. The bible tells us that the demons do not question God's sovereignty, as illustrated by the dialog between Jesus and a few demons he encountered (Mat 8:29, James 2:19). If demons recognize that Jesus is God's son and that he is to torment them at some point, then who is God proving the issue of Universal sovereignty to? The angels who did NOT rebel against him? No, they are privy to the same if not more knowledge as the demons. The only ones left are humans! And we all know that the bible says that we need God because we can't figure things out on our own (Jer 10:23), so only people who don't believe the bible (according to the bible) are the only ones who do not recognize God's sovereignty! So why is he trying to prove his sovereignty to them? Not to mention that he makes those who acknowledge His sovereignty suffer right along with those who don't, which proves nothing! Makes no sense to me!
I'll illustrate it this way; Your neighbor is your best friend (Jehovah), and has a pair of trained attack dogs (Satan, demons) that he doesn't want anymore. He tells everyone that the dogs will attack at will until he gives the command not to. If anyone else happens to give the right command, they may or may not listen. He lets these dogs run loose in the neighborhood knowing that all of his friends, including you, must come and go on a daily basis. If the dogs are nearby, this will be extremely difficult! If not, you might make it for the day. All of the people in His household (Jesus, angels) are protected from these attacks by various means, and all know the precise commands and tones of voice to use to control the dogs. To beat it all, you have seen these dogs viciously attack your other friends relentlessly until they were begging for your best friend to command them to stop, but all he does is try to coach the person to defend themselves amidst all the noise and stress and pain, saying, "I'm proving a point". Years go by and the dog attacks continue, some even turning out fatal for the victim, all the while your Best friend watches every attack and does nothing. Then a point in time comes when He bans the dogs from coming onto His property (Satan banished to earth) by building a fence around his property and leaving the neighbors to fend for themselves, leaving only a written copy of how to try to resist the dogs (bible). At some point he says he will call off the dogs and send them to the pound to be put to death once and for all so everyone can live in peace.
What point does this prove? -

Interesting verse at Judges 1:19, Lore!
As far as what bible I use, I tend to do everything on my PC, so I have the WT Library CDROM but I also heavily use the e-Sword program. It has Strong's Dictionary of Greek and Hebrew words as well as tons of different bible translations, some with Strong's numbers, some without. I recently got the NWT on e-Sword, too, which makes it even less necessary to open the WT Library! Between my e-Sword and my bookshelf, I have some 50+ copies of the bible, although a few are in Latin, Greek, or some other language I don't understand (came free on e-Sword). e-Sword itself is free, I highly recommend it! Go to e-sword.net, and be sure to put the - in there because there is a site called esword.net that is the WRONG one! -

I just stumped our PO!!!
by The Last Nephilim ini have never seen this guy stumped on a bible topic or point before, but history was made today!!!
he and a soon-to-be elder were doing a shepherding call on my wife and i because we've missed weeks worth of meetings and had no service time for dec. he went through the usual lectures about how we're cutting off jehovah by missing meetings (because we all know god won't lift a finger for those who don't go to meetings, right?
) he gave some good illustrations- the guy really is a good teacher, it's just what he's teaching that's questionable.

Have you ever intentionally said crazy things from the platform?
by B_Deserter inlike have you said stuff that is just outright insane like "each and every one of us should be ready and willing to die for the society" purely in the hopes that you'd turn someone off?
i imagine for most of us trying to fade that would be the most difficult thing to do, but some people are really good at shutting down and just going with a flow, too.. .
i ask because it's the only possible explanation i can come up with for some of the really bat-shit insane stuff i've heard come from the podium.

Nothing intentionally, but once I was giving a bible reading and while reading I thought I had messed up, so I abruptly stopped short of reading all of the word "kingship" (I read "kingshi-")and it sounded like I said "king's sh!t". After that it was all I could do to finish the reading and I DID NOT look up at the audience anymore!!!

Liberty- thanks for the heads up. I did actually know that the Greek scriptures never contained the name "Jehovah" but I also thought it compelling that the times when 1st century bible writers quoted OT scripture that originally contained the name, they left it out. This is the reason the WTS puts it in there. They say that if it appeared in the original OT verse, then it should appear in the Greek quotations as well. Also, in the appendix of the KIT, on page 1133, they give more "proof" that the Hebrew Tetragrammaton appeared in early copies of the Septuagint, thereby proving that the divine name belongs in the GNT. I say that it's mighty fishy that Jesus, when praying, never says "Jehovah", even in the "model" prayer. Hmm...

I don't want to worship a God that.............
by oompa inwould kill billions of people for any reason.. would require family members to not speak to a member of their own family.. would require a parent to stone a child for being a bad boy.. would require probably millions of animals to be slaughtered and make smoke for him.. would let a rapist of a young girl have the privilege of marrying her.. would let mankind suffer for thousands of years to prove something to his heavenly creatures.. would let horrible "natural" tragedies occur, killing millions of people, when they don't have to happen.. would communicate to mankind by writing to them.....but not keep any originals around....like pyramids.. would want to be worshiped in the first place.....i just don't get it........................you can add your own if you want..........oompa.

How about a God who promises to "bless" you per Malachi 3:10 by "opening up the floodgates of the heavens" to you, yet despite all your efforts and contributions, you continually get the shaft at work, in the congregation, and even at home. Meanwhile, Brother PO, whom you know is a (insert infraction here, in my case crooked business dealings and partiality in the cong.) gets a brand new $30k vehicle every two years, has a "perfect" family, and his biggest worry is whether or not the KH is in shape for the CO's visit! Then sitting on the other side of the Hall is old Sister "Dirt Poor", a widow who walks with a cane and often has to bum a ride to the meetings, worries about where she's going to move to the next time she gets evicted for not having rent money, yet she's always out in service getting 30+ hours a month. Sure, you may have it better off than Sister Dirt Poor, but she gets more time in service than you AND the PO, meanwhile the PO is getting 10-12 hours a month compared to your 15. The question is, where are those "open floodgates" of the heavens for you and sister Dirt Poor until there is NO MORE WANT!???
So we have a God who plays favorites and makes empty promises... -

Speaking of "causing" vs. "allowing", aren't you, in effect, "causing" something when you know that a condition exists that, if unrestrained or eliminated, would cause suffering and you have the power to stop it, but don't????
I believe our PO calls this "Sins of Omission"... -

Along the human suffering lines, how about a God who doesn't CAUSE bad things to happen, but ALLOWS them to. Think about it- I won't teach my child to be a murderer, but I'll allow others to teach him, all the while saying, "No, no- you shouldn't do that!" and doing nothing about it until it's too late and the child has murdered over and over again, only to tell the victim's families that they will suffer the same fate permanently if they aren't forgiving!
